7 Market Update Post Ideas for Your City

Your local numbers change every month, and past clients want to know what that means for their home. These seven post ideas turn one monthly data release into a week of useful content. Each one works as a single graphic, a carousel slide or a line in your newsletter.

The 7 post ideas

  • The one-number post. Lead with the median list price and how it compares with last year. Example: the Nashville metro's median list price was $539,900 in August 2026, flat year over year (Realtor.com Economic Research).
  • Days on market, explained. Say how long homes take to sell and what it means: more time to decide for buyers, more patience for sellers. Nashville metro, August 2026: 60 days (Realtor.com).
  • The price-cut share. Show what share of listings cut their price this month. In the Nashville metro it was about 1 in 5 in August 2026 (22.04%, Realtor.com).
  • Inventory check. Compare homes for sale now with a year ago and say whether buyers have more choice.
  • Price per square foot. Compare your ZIP code with the metro so homeowners see where their neighborhood sits.
  • What it means for you. One slide for buyers and one for sellers, in plain words, without predictions.
  • The 30-second market video. Read the three biggest numbers over a shot of your city and end with an invitation to ask about their home.

Keep it accurate

  • Name the source and month on every number, for example Realtor.com Economic Research, August 2026.
  • Say whether you mean list prices or sold prices; they are not the same.
  • Say whether the data is for the metro area or a ZIP code.
  • Describe what changed instead of predicting what comes next.
